The Baltic Dry Index is compiled by the London-based Baltic Exchange and includes prices for
transported freight such as coal, grain and iron ore. This index is based on daily surveys of
agents around the world. Baltic Dry reached a tentative peak on May 20, 2008 when the index
reached 11,793. The all-time low was Wednesday, February 10, 2016, when the index fell to 290
points.
